Calendar

We have a comprehensive tournament schedule throughout the year. You can download the calendar HERE. (Some changes MAY occur from time to time as Tennis Club personnel can change as the result of annual elections.) Any problems, contact the Secretary of Tennis Seniors NSW on 02 9624 7075.

Round Robin Days

These are "more or less" monthly social days played in a Round Robin style and held at different venues within the Sydney area. There may be separate events for the ladies and the men, or there may be a mixed competition.

In 2010, social days will be either at Marrickville Lawn Tennis Club, run by Margaret Biddle or at Picton Tennis Club, run by Margaret Morschel. Tennis Seniors NSW supplies the balls, and the court hire fees are met by the player contributions. Marg Biddle graciously devotes much time, with the help of generous volunteers, in preparing a delicious chicken and salad lunch at Marrickville. The whole day, including tennis and lunch costs $20. The magnificent grass courts are a little tricky for some, but they play beautifully, if you remember you are on grass!

Prizes are presented to the winner(s) on each court. Check Vetscore for details of venue, format and/or partner requirements.

Charity Days

The Practice Day for the Teams entered in the Australian Teams’ Championship, usually combined with a social tennis activity, is associated with our biggest fund raising event for community support. We raise money through the proceeds of a huge raffle held on this day and donate it to our Cancer Research charity "Red Kite" which gives much-needed respite to families of children with cancer. The bulk of our donation comes from the money raised in the 200 Club, which is expertly administered by Jules Pratt.

The 200 CLUB works like this: Members pay $10 for a ticket, which has 5 "lucky numbers" – prizes are awarded daily according to the numbers in the First lottery drawn on that day, with a huge $500 prize on the last day. On Charity Day, the raffle relies on donations from the members, preferably fresh food, wine or something with a Christmas flavour. From these donations, volunteers make up hampers to raffle. This year's raffles raised $481. Our donation to "Red Kite" will be $2 000, once again.
