This function has been a feature of our Teams’ Week at the Australian Champs since 1997 at the Gold Coast. We all enjoyed it so much that we’ve been having it ever since. It began because most of the other states used to get together every year, in a kind of “bonding session” and the NSW players felt left out.
It was also felt that it would be appropriate to present our “Senior of the Year” award there where the player could receive accolades in the company of many friends and acquaintances. It seems to have worked well, with this year’s dinner at the “Royal Coach Motor Inn” Adelaide, being the best ever according to some.
Regardless, it’s a fabulous opportunity for the teams to meet one another, in a convivial atmosphere, where the “youngies” meet the “oldies”! At the Gold Coast, we are booked at “Emerald Lakes Golf Club” – where we first began this custom. It’s a fabulous venue and we are planning to have live music.
